Relentless is the day and the passage of time

Resolute is the night to rob us of our prime 

Rare are the occasions, rather, times we accord

To pause; meditation; the thoughts that we hoard. 

The sky alternates between darkness and light; 

Tints of black and grey and shades of creamy white

Tones of beige and ocre and soft pinkish hues

So we might, though briefly, consent to the muse.

Stricken with pain and anguish we think not, 

Sadly we judge the untie-able knot 

Solely acknowledging what we never had 

Burdened with the imprints of our mom and dad.

Both what we have now and what we have lost

Birthdays and seasons and years we exhaust 

Bring back memories we fail to indulge 

When Truth is what these echoes seek to divulge.
